Thirsty Thursday...Tunes

Lets keep the love going shall we...

Everything's Just Wonderful - Lilly Allen

I really do love me some Lilly Allen. This is a good start to the day. Though I do not think that ol Phil from Ducky Dynasty feels the same right now. He is on the hot seat for things that he said in a GQ interview and it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out and how his already ardent fan base reacts.

Enthused - Blink 182

This is actually a good song and back from when they were a good band. They are not anymore. But this is a good album.

I can understand why Phil has made people upset. But I am not surprised that he said it. He is an older man, white southern Christian. He is not going to be pro gay. He won't be. So for people to act surprised by this is just silly. It doesn't excuse what he said but don't act surprised just start actually paying attention.

Sci Fi Kid - Blitzen Trapper

This is an interesting song. A little bit to blip and blop and computer sounds for me but I get what they are doing with it. Kind of cool.

Though this whole kerfuffle might be a good reminder for people that free speech doesn't always mean say what you want without any sort of consequences. It means say what you want and if someone disagrees with you then they may stop purchasing your items or stop attending your events. Or they may speak out against what you said. They are free to do that. Sometimes people disagree with each other on things but the world still spins and we are still moving forward.

Brother - Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes

I enjoy this album more and more every time I listen to it. I just enjoy it. This is a good band and worth listening too. The piano in this song is so nice.

Out On The Tiles - Led Zeppelin

Such a great song. This is one of their top 10 songs as far as I am concerned. It just works and everything about it works. One of my favorites.

He just wants all your love. Is that to much to ask? I don't think so. Love makes everything better. Lets all just love each other, shall we. Who wants a hug?

Close To The Heart - Rush

This is a good note to close us down on today. Be good to each other out there today folks. We are all just people trying to find our way in the world and things are hard enough as it is without us being shitty toward each other.

Ruby Tuesday

Good morning friends. I hope this Tuesday finds you well. I am coming to you pretty early from the coffeehouse because someone knocked out the power in my neighborhood and I was forced to exit the house early to find my coffee and my electric power as well as gain access to the glorious internet. It isn't that I do not get up early because, regardless of my bedtime, my alarm goes off at 7 am every morning and I make myself get up and get going. So other then not being able to shower and make coffee at home it isn't like the morning has been a hardship for me. I also do like going into the Coffeehouse early but I also like going any time.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

The music choices today are coming from the "Classic Hard Rock" genre according to my google music player and it kicked things off with the most epic of all songs. So let us see what else it brings us today shall we. I am looking forward to finding out. One thing that this blog has done for me as I listen to and post music for you is that I use headphones at the coffeehouse and I am getting so much more out of the music then I did with house or car speakers. I would highly recommend it.

Led Zeppelin - Candy Store Rock

This is a nice one. I do not even listen to this album all that much at all but there are some good songs on it. This is one of them even though it does not get much radio play at all. I think it is kind of an overlooked classic if you ask me. If anyone has any lost classics that they would like to let me know about I wouldn't mind that at all.

Led Zeppelin - All My Love

There is not much to be said about this song. It is just so good. It is in my top 10 of Zeppelin songs. Maybe in my top 5. I am not totally sure. I love both the tune and the lyrics of it. A classic, classic song. I am not complaining, but I am beginning to suspect that my google music player only has Led Zeppelin in the "Classic Hard Rock" genre. We shall see. The reason I wonder is because I believe that I have other bands in my collection that would fit in the genre. Though maybe some of them are more in the prog rock arena. I am not sure.

Led Zeppelin - In The Light

Yes, it was as I suspected. I just checked and that entire genre has every Zeppelin album and nothing else. that amuses me. I am going to have to keep track of that and see what the other genres offer me as I follow this path.

Saturday Night Music

I do a few things everyday. The two things that I do everyday and often more then once a day is drink coffee and listen to music. These two things are very important to me and I think in a lot of way vital to my mental health. Oh I suppose I could cut coffee out of my life but I can't imagine stopping listening to music. I do not know how anyone does that. I know that for me music is really something that I enjoy so much.

Led Zeppelin - Going To California

It really doesn't matter what the era of music is or even the genre and I do sometimes pick and choose what I am going to listen to. But that is usually just in my car. When I am listening to music as I am writing on my computer I often just put my music on total random and listen to whatever pops up. This can be good or bad because I don't like everything that I own. I might like one or two songs from an artist but no artist is perfect. Also at this point my collection is big enough that I have forgotten all of the music that I have on my hard drive and up in the cloud.

Pink - God Is A DJ

Take the song above, I believe that I have most of her discography but I am not sure if I would consider myself a fan. I have friends who really like her and I think I wanted to see why they like her so much. I do think that some of her songs are very catchy but I would not choose to listen to her regularly or go see her in concert. But she isn't horrible. Her style of music is not my cup of tea.

Even This Shall Pass Away - Robert Plant's Band of Joy

Your Southern Can Is Mine - The White Stripes

I really, really do love the White Stripes and I can honestly say that I do not believe there is a song of theirs that I do not like. I love it all.

Satisfied Mind - Johnny Cash

I also love everything that Johnny Cash has ever done. There is just something about him and his voice and the authenticity in which he lived his life that I find admirable.

Random Music Thursday

Much like Dewey Finn I serve the world by Rockin. So lets get it started.

Celebration Day - Led Zeppelin - Nothing more can be said, but this band rocks. I may not always be in the mood for Led but I am always willing to at least try to get the Led out.

What Do I Care - Johnny Cash - Mr Cash is always welcome here and I love the sentiment behind this song. "You love me, and I love you. So what do I care." You tell it like it is John.

Time After Time - Ozzy Osbourne - I still have a soft spot after all these years for the love songs of Ozzy. I don't know what it is about them. But I really like his ballads.

Offering - The Avett Brothers - This is a just plain good band. They are also a band that can have a really emotional effect on me. I like their music so much that at times it is a painful experience for me that speaks of lost love and love never found.

Jolene - The White Stripes - This is a cover of a Dolly Parton song and they do it so well. The White Stripes are one of my favorite bands and really I can enjoy pretty much everything Jack White has ever done. This live version of Jolene is amazing.

More Random Music Wednesday

Going On - Dark Moor - This is one of my favorite epic metal bands. If there is one thing that I miss about the newer more modern music is the state of heavy metal. I miss this kind of power ballad metal and I wish that there were more American bands who played this way. But at least there are still some Northern European bands that can still bring the thunder.

Kisses Sweeter Than Wine - Jimmie Rodgers - This is a great, great early folk song. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you like folk music at all please give this one a listen. It really brings a smile to my face.

Finding My Way - Rush - This is the first Rush song off of their very first album and it rocks so hard. If you can't at least enjoy some of what Rush has brought the world musically then I have some doubts about you as a person and because I am a gentleman I am not going to express them right now. But I will be thinking them.

Despicable - Eminem - Ummm, this one is not safe for work at all. I had forgotten that I even had any Eminem in my collection. I enjoy him but he is for sure not for everyone. I think he has some real talent but I am not a big fan of the constant flow of profanity. But that is just me. The beats he uses are funky fresh.

South Bound Saurez - Led Zeppelin - This is a great song and to be honest there is not a song by Led Zeppelin that I do not enjoy in some form. The piano on this one is very good and kind of reminds me of Elton John

That is it for today folks and I think that today the selections showed how varied my musical tastes are. I hope you enjoyed it.

Friday Random Music

Friday is here and I don't know about you guys but I am excited to keep this little musical experience going.

1: The Go Getter - The Black Keys: Yet another sweet tune from the Black Keys. There is a crunchiness to the guitar and bass in this one that just is awesome. This is a song that I can just close my eyes and bob my head to. It's got a sweet beat and you can really groove to it.

2: No Quarter - Led Zeppelin: This one is an interesting song for me. There is just an almost ambient nature to it, which I love. It just isn't what I think of when I think of Led Zeppelin and often when I choose to listen to them this isn't a song that I usually pick. But the cool thing is that it also kind of fits with the previous song. Which makes the randomness of it even better.

3: Muleskinner Blues : Old & In The Way - This was a side project of Jerry Garcie and is pretty much just toe tappin blugrass. I love this kind of music so much. It never fails to bring a smile to my face.

4: Innocent Bones - Iron & Wine: There are songs that I just enjoy and songs that are so lovely that they just almost make you hurt because you know that you can never play or create something that beautiful. This is one of those songs for me. I love the guitar in it. So much.

5: Beyond the Fire - Dark Moor - Oh ya, finishing the randomness up strong with some epic metal from Spain. If you like epic, majestic metal then do yourself a favor and check these guys out. They are awesome.

One of the things that I really like about this process for me is that it really reminds me of how diverse my music collection is. I like that. Because I really do like almost all kinds of music.

More Music (Led Zeppelin)

It is Monday and lets get the Led out. I like Led Zeppelin. I go in streaks where I listen to them a lot and sometimes I go months without hearing a song but when I do either in a movie or on the radio or when a friend plays them. I immediately remember why I enjoy them. Now I could throw up probably 30 songs. But I think I am just going to do three videos and they most likely be live ones. I have their entire discography. But I think I am just going to pick some that mean something to me on a more personal level.

"Immigrant Song" I listened to this song so much in high school on my Walkman. Yes I am that old. I flat wore this tape out.

"Misty Mountain Hop"

"Good Times Bad Times" This song, from the opening guitar and the drum beats signified an amazing new band and it was awesome.

I am going to give you one more song from Led Zeppelin III. The main reason being that for me I think III was their best album. I have probably linked this song more then any other song to various things but I love the song. It is "Broy-Y-Aur Stomp" and this version from the Earl's Court concert in 1975 is amazing.
